About This Service

Windshield Calibration

Modern vehicles use forward-facing cameras mounted on the windshield for lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. When the windshield is replaced, the camera must be recalibrated to the new glass position — even millimetres of misalignment can cause ADAS to fail when it matters most. We perform static calibration on-site using OEM-compliant targets. Required by most manufacturers and insurers after any windshield replacement on ADAS-equipped vehicles.

Why ADAS Calibration Is Not Optional

The windshield-mounted camera is the “eyes” of your driver assistance system. Replacing the windshield shifts the camera’s exact position — even a fraction of a millimetre matters. Without recalibration, your lane-keep assist may trigger late, your automatic emergency braking may fail to detect obstacles correctly, or your adaptive cruise may misjudge following distance. Most vehicle manufacturers and Ontario insurance companies require calibration after every windshield replacement on ADAS-equipped vehicles. Skipping it can void your warranty and — more importantly — compromise your safety.

Does Calibration Cost Extra?

When your windshield replacement is covered by insurance, the required calibration is almost always covered too — Ontario insurers include it as part of the glass claim. Without insurance, static calibration at LPAG typically costs $150–$350 depending on your vehicle. We confirm what is covered before we start, so there are no surprises.

Our ADAS Calibration Process

  1. Post-install wait — we allow the adhesive to reach minimum cure strength before calibration begins.
  2. Target setup — OEM-compliant calibration targets are positioned to your vehicle manufacturer’s exact specifications.
  3. Camera alignment — the camera is trained to the calibration target using scan-tool software.
  4. Verification scan — we run a static verification or drive-cycle check to confirm all ADAS features are reading correctly.
  5. Documentation — calibration is logged and provided to you; most insurers require this proof for reimbursement.
